Kenosis

Kenosis refers to the emptying out of Christ.  That sounds weird, but it is what Christ did when he left heaven to come to earth.  Theologically, I don't know if we can really grasp it.  Christ is fully God and fully man.  He was fully God and then became a man.  As Jesus was on earth, he didn't cease to be God but yet he was limited by his humanity in some ways.

Logically, we know that 100%+100%=200% but Jesus didn't not become a 50/50 hybrid god/man.  We should understand Jesus' limitations not so much that He was flesh but as a matter of authority.  Jesus deferred to the Father and that is why we see Him praying when He performs miracles.  The power that He uses comes from God the Father.

Philippians 2:5-11 speaks of Jesus humbling himself to become a man and how we should imitate Christ's humility.
