About Us

Spreading Light Ministries began in 1999.  It was designed to give Biblical insight into some of Christianity's more difficult issues.  Since then, that ministry has expanded into a place where not only that is discussed but has included theology, sermons, Bible studies, and Christian stories.  In January 2003 we included an online school that offers free courses to Christians around the world.  In January 2005 Christian Life Stories was launched as its own site due to the popularity of Christian stories and poems.  In 2008 Online Bible Devotions was launched. 

Starting in 2009, the ministry launched several new sites creating the Spreading Light Ministries Network, an umbrella under which all of our websites are collected.  Currently there are more than two dozen websites under the Spreading Light Network with more launched each year.

Our current focus is on publishing Bible studies and commentaries.  The long term goal is to have a Bible study for every book of the Bible.  In addition to the studies, an online Bible dictionary is a work in progress that we hope to fill with hundreds of definitions.

Our ultimate goal is to bring souls to Christ and to unite the church for that purpose.  If this ministry brings even one soul to Christ or strengthens the faith of one believer, we believe that all our work has paid off.

We believe that Jesus is the only way to God and are concerned by the fact that so many see nothing wrong in other religions today.  John 14:6 says, "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.'"  For this reason, we hold that Christianity and faith in Christ is the only way to heaven and despite our goal of unity, we will not compromise on this issue.

We strive to see the Holy Spirit alive and active in every place where Christians gather.  We want to see a fire spread throughout the church of Jesus Christ; a revival and commitment like none ever seen to take place across the world.  We believe that the time may be short and our Lord may return at any time.  For this reason, we want to be found ready for His return.

The founder of Spreading Light has been at work within the church for a number of years already.  He is an ordained minister and has his masters degree.  Other contributors to this ministry are involved in ministries of their own across the United States and include various denominations.  We do not agree on all issues but firmly hold to the fact that Jesus is Lord and is the only way to heaven.

Because there have been some who have asked, the founder is the author of many of the articles on this website.  He is a member of the Brethren in Christ Church (found online at bic-church.org) and holds a B.S. in Bible from Lancaster Bible College (lbc.edu) as well as a Master of Arts in Religion and Master of Religious Education degrees from Liberty University. (liberty.edu)  He is currently an online adjunct professor for Grand Canyon University (gcu.edu) as well.  Although none of the views expressed on this website are contradictory to the views held by the church or the schools, they should not be assumed to be representative of the organizations either.  Many stances held by this website have an "official" view by the organizations and should be understood to be held by the founder or other contributors to this ministry only.

This ministry exists only online and has no ministry budget or materials.  For this reason, we ask that visitors would not email us asking for materials or donations to some cause, worthy as they may be.
